Dr. Schaffer graduated from the University of Michigan in 1978. He earned his medical degree from the St. Louis School of Medicine in 1982. Dr.Schaffer completed his general surgery residency and orthopaedic surgery residency at Wayne State Affiliated Hospitals in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a special fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Iowa. Dr. Schaffer is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon. He practices general orthopaedics with a special interest in the area of Sports Medicine. He is the team physician for Norfolk Tides, Old Dominion University, and the Hampton Roads Piranhas.
